Zone 1 - Milwaukie
Kathy Hyzy
Kathy Hyzy joined the Clackamas Community College Board of Education in 2023, representing the Milwaukie area. She served as a Milwaukie city councilor 2019-2022, during a time of historic city investments in capital construction projects. Her policy background is wide-ranging and includes equity and inclusion, transportation, housing, and climate – all issues she sees directly impacting the CCC community. Regionally she has served on the Joint Policy Advisory Committee on Transportation, the Metro Policy Advisory Committee, the Clackamas County Coordinating Committee. Her career background is in nonprofit administration. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in sociology and creative writing from Linfield College and a master's degree in environmental studies from the University of Montana.
She believes Clackamas Community College provides an essential pathway to living-wage jobs, adds to the pool of needed skilled labor and gives the community opportunities for lifelong learning. Addressing the affordability of higher education, strengthening the college's ties to the community and increasing enrollment are her top priorities.
Zone 2 - Happy Valley
Rob Wheeler
Rob Wheeler joined the Board of Education in 2017, representing the Happy Valley area. He has been a financial planner since 1994. He is the former mayor of Happy Valley, member and two-time chair of the North Clackamas County Chamber of Commerce Board, member of the CCC Bond Project Citizen Oversight Committee and member of the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office Blue Ribbon Committee. He also served on the North Clackamas School District Five-year Strategic Planning Committee, the Sunrise Corridor Transportation Citizens Advisory Committee
He has a Bachelor of Science in finance/law from Portland State University. Rob and his wife, Robin, live in Happy Valley and have lived in the county since 1994. Rob believes community college is an affordable steppingstone for higher education and provides occupational training desperately needed by the business community and for career advancement.
Zone 3 - Gladstone
Wade Hathhorn
Wade Hathhorn joined the Board of Education in 2021, representing Gladstone, Oak Grove and Jennings Lodge areas. He is the general manager at Sunrise Water Authority, but began his professional career as a professor of civil engineering at a university.
He has a bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees in civil engineering, and is a retired professional engineer with expertise in utility management and strategic water supply planning. He also has extensive professional experience in infrastructure planning, design and construction management.
Wade has always been interested in academia, the mission of higher education and its value to the general community, and sees serving on the Board of Education as an opportunity to give back to the profession he values and respects.
Zone 5 - West Linn and Wilsonville
Aaron Woods
Aaron Woods has lived in the Wilsonville community for more than 24 years. He has over 30 years of business and IT services experience and started his higher education at a community college. He co-founded the Wilsonville Alliance of Inclusive Community, which promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion through intentional dialogue, information seeking and advocacy. He is a graduate of the Wilsonville Citizens Academy, which prepared him for roles on local-government boards and commissions, as well as area nonprofits. He has served on the Wilsonville Development Review Board and the city’s planning commission. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in business and a Master of Business Administration degree from Marylhurst University.
Zone 6 - East Clackamas
Jane Reid
Jane Reid has served on the Board of Education since 2007. She brings decades of community service and advocacy to CCC. Jane has been active in the project to revitalize the Estacada Auditorium through Estacada Together. Her community contributions also include developing The Powerhouse Project, a multi-year project that explores the dams and powerhouses on the Clackamas River through the arts, and spearheading numerous projects and funding efforts for the arts in Estacada and Clackamas County. Jane holds a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Connecticut. Jane is an advocate for the arts, education and the environment.
Zone 7 - South and Southwest Clackamas
Irene Konev
Irene Konev joined the CCC Board of Education in 2017. She has 20 years of outreach experience, having worked at Clackamas Women’s Services and the Portland Independent Police Review. Her volunteer work includes the Clackamas County Equity Diversity and Inclusion Council, the Community of Color Task Force, Russian Old Believer Enhancement Services, the Slavic Advisory Council to the Chief of Portland Police, Human Trafficking Task Force and Metro Equity Strategy Committee. She is currently studying political science at Portland State University. She has lived in Canby for 12 years and is the mother of seven grown children. Irene believes that higher education leads to the generational wealth of families and changes family legacies.
