At CCC, we believe keeping an eye on the future is the best way to stay focused on your goals. When it comes to graduating, the team in Graduation Services can help you stay on track to complete your degree. CCC also hosts two graduation ceremonies in June: one for our GED and Adult High School completers and one for our degree and certificate students. Complete the simple steps below to get to your finish line.

Step 1: Petition to Graduate

It is strongly recommended that students submit a Petition for Graduation two terms from their anticipated term of completion. (For example, spring term graduates should apply during fall term). CCC does accept Petitions for Graduation up until the sixth week of each term to graduate during the current term.

Students can petition for graduation online in Self-Service. Use the Graduation Overview module to submit the form, or download the Petition for Graduation form and turn it in to Graduation Services. After you submit your Petition for Graduation, Graduation Services will be in touch with you via your email address with more information.

Contact if your program of study needs to be updated or you have any questions about petitioning to graduate.

If you want to waive or substitute a course for a program requirement, please work with the Department Chair of that program to submit a Request to Waive or Substitute Course form.

Step 2 (optional): Register for Commencement

To register for the GED/AHSD graduation ceremony, visit the GED/AHSD webpage.

What is the difference between Graduation and Commencement?

  • Graduation is when a student is awarded a certificate or degree once they have satisfied all certificate or degree requirements as verified by the Graduation Services Office. After the verification process, the certificate or diploma is printed, mailed and posted to the student's CCC record. The mailing and posting process for certificates and diplomas usually takes 6 to 8 weeks after term grades are recorded.
  • Commencement is a ceremony that allows students, family and friends to celebrate in the student's academic accomplishments. Participation in the ceremony does not mean the student has graduated and students do not receive their certificates or diplomas at the ceremony.

The commencement ceremony for 2017-18 graduates is June 15, 2018.

Details and registration for the ceremony will go live at the start of spring term.
