3. Small class sizes: Classes at CCC are always small, usually 15 to 30 students.This is in contrast to large research universities, where introductory classes often have more than 100 students. At CCC, we value individualized instruction and personalized student interaction. Hands-on learning and an emphasis on the use of technology in the classroom set us apart.
4. Approved transfer programs: Start at Clackamas and earn an engineering degree in one of 11 different engineering majors. Educational plans for each one of these majors are designed with and approved by our university partners.
5. A common route: Nationwide, about 40 percent of engineering graduates who receive a bachelor's degree begin at a community college. Over 75 percent of Portland State University's engineering graduates attend a community college before completing their bachelors degree.
6. Engineering club: CCC has an active student-run Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics club. Send an email to clackamasstemclub@gmail.com to learn how you can get involved. In the past, we have built gliders, trebuchets and potato cannons. We have also gone on tours to places such as Tektronix and Intel and hosted guest speakers. This year we hope to win (yes, we're ambitious) a nationwide engineering design competition for community college engineering students.
7. Free tutoring services: A wide range of free tutoring is available at the Dye Learning Center on campus, allowing you to get extra help in math, science, engineering, and writing courses.
8. Flexibility: You can easily take a lighter class load, balancing school with other commitments. A range of day and night classes are offered, giving you choices about how to construct your schedule. Many courses are offered online, allowing you to learn at your own pace and at times that are convenient to you.
