Bond projects: Enhancing community connections

Clackamas Community College is dedicated to fostering meaningful relationships with our community and industry partners. Through bond-funded projects, we are enhancing spaces and resources that support collaboration, innovation and engagement. These improvements will create more opportunities for partnerships, workforce training and community involvement, ensuring that CCC remains a vital hub for education, connection, and growth in our region.

Projects

Athletic field improvements

Picture of student athletes on the track fieldExisting Conditions:

The existing outdoor athletic facilities need to be updated. There is limited seating for events, limited access to restrooms, no concession stands, and the outdoor facilities are inadequate for current demand. The facilities are at their end of life, do not meet current standards (soccer) and have grass fields that limit the playing time due to wet conditions.

Improvements for consideration:

Replace the track and field and add a synthetic soccer/lacrosse field, baseball and softball facility updates, bleachers, restrooms, concessions and field house.

Wilsonville campus improvements

Picture of CCC's Wilsonville campusExisting Conditions:

The Wilsonville campus opened in 1992. A 2001 expansion added a 36,000-square-foot utility training center with classrooms and offices, which more than tripled the campus's floor space and included new utility pole yard. The campus property is an 8-acre parcel accommodating the college building, a parking lot and outdoor training areas.

Improvements for consideration:

The bond could fund an expanded apprenticeship, lab and workforce training space, along with enhanced community use space.

Challenger space simulation center

Students working at a space simulatorExisting Conditions:

The Challenger Center is an interactive space simulation center for middle school students to introduce them STEM opportunities. Challenger Center is an education nonprofit dedicated to bringing STEM subjects to life at a network of more than 40 centers across the globe; this would be the first one in Oregon.

Improvements for consideration:

We would partner with K-12 districts to create a first-of-its-kind Oregon immersive space simulator center to provide hands-on learning experiences to kids in middle school through high school to learn about STEM programs, especially reaching out to underserved populations of students. This would be a self-sustaining model, meaning it would bring in revenue to operate.

Douglas Loop walking trail

Existing Conditions:

The existing path around the Oregon City campus has several gaps that could be fully connected as a loop, tying into other paths across campus.

Improvements for consideration:

The college will improve pedestrian safety and provide a recreational resource by completing the Douglas Loop pedestrian path, which will ensure greater ADA accessibility.
