Hone your skills with professional musicians at one of CCC's faculty-led summer music camps. Learn in a fun and creative environment and close out the week with a performance for peers, friends and family.
Music Summer Camps
July 31 – Aug. 4, 2023
CCC's Vocal Camp is open to singers in grades nine and up who want to immerse themselves in a five-day musical journey to foster growth and inspiration.
Overview
Brilliant Voices Summer Music Camp is a week-long summer music program that's perfect for vocal musicians of all levels who want to improve their skills, sing fun and challenging repertoire, and learn about music theory. Held at the beautiful Niemeyer Center for Performing Arts on the Oregon City campus, students will spend five days immersed in a welcoming and creative college campus setting. Unique to CCC, students are invited to attend the optional evening recording sessions. Record original or cover tunes in our modern studio for a one-of-a-kind camp experience. Directed by Dr. Kathleen Hollingsworth, CCC's Director of Vocal Music. Come as you are; all musical skill levels are welcome!
Daily schedule includes classes in:
- singing
- songwriting
- recording
- choir
- acapella
- functional theory
- creativity
- fun!
Camp runs from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. daily with a Friday evening concert. Optional evening recording session from 6-9 p.m.
Who can attend?
Registration is open to singers entering grades 9-12, as well as college students and community members. Come as you are; all musical skill levels are welcome!
Reasons to join CCC's singing music camp:
- Learn new vocal jazz, gospel and choral works in the all-camp choir
- Collaboratively compose new music in a circle singing group

We accept credit/debit cards. Registration closes on Friday July 28, 2023 at 11:59 p.m. Refunds available by request through Friday July 21, 2023 at 11:59 p.m.
If registration is sold out, please add your name to the waitlist. We may be able to open more spots.
What to Bring
- Food/drink: Students should bring refillable water bottles and snacks. Bag lunch is encouraged. For an additional $75, CCC will provide a lunch for each day of the week. Students staying for the evening recording session should bring a dinner or money to buy dinner off-campus (dietary restrictions will be accommodated within reason).
- Clothing: Students should wear comfortable clothing and bring a light jacket or sweatshirt, as building temperature may vary.

Camp will be held at Clackamas Community College in the Niemeyer Center for Performing Arts. Free parking is available in Yellow Lot 2. Additionally, students may be dropped off/picked up at the loop directly in front of the Niemeyer Center. Students will meet and rehearse in the choir room (N114) each day. High school and college-bound musicians, join us for a jam-packed week of instrumental instruction, rehearsals, and performances this summer at Clackamas Community College! Spots are limited, so register early!
Overview
Clackamas Summer Band Camp is a week-long summer music program that's perfect for instrumental musicians of all levels who want to improve their skills, play fun and challenging wind ensemble repertoire, and learn about music theory. Held at the beautiful Niemeyer Center for Performing Arts on the Oregon City campus, students learn from renowned Portland-area musicians in a comfortable college campus setting, with plenty of rehearsal time. Camp runs from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. daily with a Friday evening concert. Conducted by Lars Campbell, CCC's Director of Instrumental Music.
Who can attend?
Registration is open to students entering grades 9-13 with at least two years of experience in a school ensemble. Students who play flute, clarinet, bass clarinet, oboe, bassoon, saxophone, horn, trumpet, trombone, euphonium, tuba, double bass, piano, and percussion are encouraged to register! - 4 p.m. - Students are dismissed

Staff
Conductor - Lars Campbell, CCC Director of Instrumental Music
Lars Campbell has been the Director of Instrumental Music at Clackamas Community College since 2013. He directs the CCC Wind Ensemble and the CCC Jazz Ensemble, as well as currently serving as the chair of the Music Department. He conducts a variety of ensembles outside the college setting, in performance and recordings. He conducts at Clackamas Repertory Theater each year, leading a group of area professionals in the orchestra pit to excellent reviews. In 2021 he conducted the world premiere of Darrell Grant’s jazz opera Sanctuaries for Third Angle New Music. In addition to his conducting duties, he maintains an extremely active trombone performance career in the evenings, performing frequently with the orchestras of the Oregon Symphony, Oregon Ballet Theater, and Portland Opera, as well as many jazz performance groups.

- Instruments - students should expect to bring their own instruments. Piano and percussion will be provided. Loaner instruments may be available upon request.
- Equipment - students should come prepared with extra reeds, valve oil, rosin, neck straps, tuners, and anything else necessary for a full day of playing. Stands and chairs are provided.
