CCC and EOU partner to offer onsite elementary education bachelor's degree
OREGON CITY -- Clackamas Community College is expanding opportunities for future educators through a new partnership with Eastern Oregon University. EOU now offers an 18-month bachelor of arts or bachelor of science degree in elementary education, with in-person classes, on CCC's Oregon City campus.
Designed with flexibility and accessibility in mind, the program features evening classes, allowing students to balance their education with work, family and other responsibilities. In addition to coursework, students will gain real-world teaching experience through valuable field placements, ensuring they graduate with hands-on skills.
Graduates of the program will earn endorsements in multiple subjects and English for Speakers of Other Languages endorsements, equipping them with the critical qualifications required to support diverse student populations.
"Our partnership with Eastern Oregon University is a step forward in our commitment to expanding educational pathways for our students," CCC President Tim Cook said. "By bringing a bachelor's degree in elementary education to our campus, we are making it easier for future teachers to get the training and experience they need without having to leave their community."
This collaboration underscores Clackamas Community College's dedication to providing accessible, high-quality education that meets the needs of students and the workforce.
"This partnership expands access to teacher education, allowing students to earn their degrees in their communities." Rae Ette Newman, EOU dean of the college of education said. "By providing flexibility and hands-on experience, we're helping future educators succeed while addressing Oregon's teacher shortage. Together, we're building stronger pathways to the classroom and supporting the next generation of teachers."
