OREGON CITY - Thanks to a U.S. Department of Labor grant, Clackamas Community College is offering funding for students in renewable energy and industrial maintenance technology through the college's Renew-It Program. This innovative program provides unemployed and underemployed adults with the opportunity to gain academic and career skills in the high-demand fields of renewable energy and industrial maintenance technology.

These 6-month training programs offer students a quick path to entry-level careers in manufacturing, industrial mechanics and industrial maintenance, and renewable energy systems, including solar, wind and geothermal technologies.

"Renew-It is a game-changer for individuals looking to enter the thriving field of renewable energy and industrial maintenance technology," said CCC Career Pathways Grant Director Britany Ellerbrook. "This program not only offers comprehensive training but also provides financial support to students, covering the full cost of tuition, textbooks, tools, course materials and fees. It's an exciting opportunity for those seeking meaningful employment."

Through the Renew-It Program, CCC offers:

  • No-cost educational and training opportunities in industrial maintenance and renewable energy careers
  • Career readiness training to equip students with the skills they need for success
  • Employment counseling and job placement assistance to support students in their career journey
  • Personalized one-on-one advising to help students make informed decisions about their education and career paths

The program begins winter term, which starts Jan. 8. Students who enroll in the Renew-It Program can expect to develop skills in manufacturing, installation and industrial maintenance of renewable energy systems, making a positive impact in the growing green energy sector.
