This program equips you with the skills needed for a strong foundation in plant science, preparing you for a successful career in the field of arboriculture and plant care.
Technical skills:
- Arboriculture equipment: Demonstrate competency with climbing gear, chainsaws, chippers, hydraulic sprayers, trucks and trailers.
- Plant identification: Identify common woody and herbaceous plants in the landscape.
- Tree health: Recognize and identify key disorders in trees.
- Site assessment: Perform site assessments, including plant health inspections, hazard tree identification and water audit interpretations.
- Effective communication: Communicate effectively with co-workers and customers through speaking, report writing and computer technology.
- Native plant species identification: Learn to identify native plant species and gain an understanding of their ecological significance.
