Do you have a knack for working with your hands and a desire to build something lasting?  Clackamas Community College's Welding Technology Certificate has American Welding Society (AWS) certified instructors who can equip you with the skills and knowledge to thrive in this exciting and in-demand field.   

This one-year program provides a comprehensive foundation in welding processes, preparing you for entry-level positions in various industries.

Get industry-standard training from expert welding instructors 

Led by American Welding Society (AWS) certified instructors, the Welding Technology Certificate follows the AWS national curriculum for entry-level welders. You should gain the knowledge and hands-on skills for a welding career, learning to perform: 

  • Welding techniques: Fillet and groove welds using SMAW, GMAW, FCAW and GTAW on steel, stainless steel and aluminum with various electrodes. 
  • Cutting techniques: Plasma arc cutting (PAC), air carbon arc cutting (CAC-A) and gouging, along with manual and automatic oxy-fuel cutting (OFC and OFC-Track Burner) processes. 
  • Welding theory: Understand the science behind materials and welding processes. 
  • Practical skills: Develop experience in blueprint reading, weld inspection, quality control, safety protocols and essential shop practices. 
  • Fabrication from concept to completion: Learn fabrication techniques including job costing, layout, sketching, creating bills of materials, and applying fitting and cutting skills to real-world projects designed in collaboration with industry partners.

With a Welding Technology Certificate from CCC, you should gain the knowledge and hands-on skills to excel in your welding career, learning to perform a variety of techniques that will prepare you for any welding job.
